It is the duty of Government to provide a secure source of fuel for both Domestic and Industrial use. We have found from experience that we cannot rely on foreign suppliers and for that reason we shall increase our Nuclear Energy Production

1) Cars and Engines

Exhaust fumes are a major “enemy”, and cars must be made to run on cleaner fuel, so, we must make better use of this by designing engines that are much cleaner. Research is already going on, but Government assistance will be provided to speed up the process, where required or requested.

2) Global Warming

E.P.P. will actively promote all ideas and suggestions for reducing global-warming, which will, ultimately, be the downfall of the whole planet, animals and all. With planning and active involvement by all nations around the world, it can and must be reduced to sustainable levels.

A little known fact is, that if all pollutant emissions and “green-house” gasses were stopped immediately today, across the world, it would still take 100 years for the hole in the ozone layer to repair itself and the climate return to an acceptable level for humanity after that.

So the best we can hope for is to delay this a little, hopefully preventing melting polar icecaps, and rapidly rising sea levels. The rising levels of sea-water will result in a huge amount of land being inundated around the world, causing habitable islands and low-level coastal areas to be lost, to both human and animal habitation and also food producing land.

Global warming is now triggering world temperatures to rise to desert levels in many fertile regions. This, of course, sadly means failure of crops and subsequent starvation and famine for most of the people in those hard-hit countries.

A tiny nation like England, which, like Germany and some others in Scandinavia, are already “trying very hard” to reduce emissions, will have absolutely no effect whatsoever, unless the developing third world countries, China in particular, with India and Pakistan, and particularly the USA, all collaborate to cut emissions.

This is a “global problem”, and should be dealt with at the United Nations, with considerable urgency.

‘Opt outs’, are not an option!

3) Alternative Energy Needs

Alternative sources of energy need to be found quickly.  Research by E.P.P. into various different methods and possibilities will be increased immediately.

At present, only 1% of our energy resources are from “renewables”. Sweden has progressed to an amazing 40%! So it can be done.

Priority will be given to the development of “Bio-Fuel”. This is a mixture of mainly diesel and rapeseed oil, which we can easily grow in England. The benefits are at least three-fold – greenhouse gases and emissions are reduced, secondly our farmers can profitably grow the rapeseed here, and the third bonus is to help reduce our complete reliance on imported oil, for petrol and diesel.

With sufficient Tax Incentives, (possibly up to 25% reduction in Duty) all vehicle users, particularly commercial, will be encouraged to change to Bio-Fuel, rather than LPG. In the meantime, it is still preferable to convince drivers to convert to LPG, rather than use petrol.

Also, the production of rapeseed will quickly help our farmers to become more profitable again.

4) Wind Farms

Current thinking over Wind Farms is that they are not the glittering prize we all first thought! Although they add nominally to the local Electricity Supply, they also “pollute” the landscape dreadfully, by their ‘raison d’être’ to catch the wind! Some are even over 300ft high!

We all have to live with their eerie hilltop and coastline profiles, but more seriously, they require a full National Grid Electricity back up, in case the wind drops, or fails! However, E.P.P. still believes there is a specific place for renewable energy sources in our modern world, to help us with our growing energy needs. All possibilities will be investigated

5) Solar Panels

Solar Panels, although now becoming more widespread, will also be further encouraged in various and practical ways. Huge savings, in both costs for heating buildings and a reduction in energy production by public companies, can be made in this area. Examples from abroad will be studied, and where suitable, used in England.

6) Sea “Power”

Harnessing the sea, and “Wave Power”, is one alternative, and attractive in several respects. Although initially expensive to install, it is largely out of sight, sustainable, and runs continuously, without any pollution.

7) Nuclear Power

Nuclear Power Stations are the most viable and cost effective form of Energy Production. It is fortunate, that a new breed of Generator is now undergoing tests in Italy. It is the brainchild of an Italian physicist, and Nobel Prizewinner, Prof. Carlo Rubbia.

His revolutionary new Reactor can re-cycle its own waste and also high-level Waste Products from conventional Nuclear Reactors.

England, for our part, will continue a policy of “replacement and sustainability” for all ecological projects, across the country, in all industries and applications, and in all walks of life.
